- 8 oz elbow macaroni
- 2 cups sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
- 1 cup mozzarella cheese, shredded
- 1/2 cup grated parmesan cheese
- 2 cups milk
- 2 tbsp butter
- 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup bread crumbs
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Cook macaroni according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
- In a saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Whisk in flour and cook for 1 minute.
- Gradually add milk, whisking constantly until smooth and thickened.
- Remove from heat and stir in cheeses until melted. Season with salt and pepper.
- Mix cheese sauce with cooked macaroni. Pour into a greased baking dish.
- Sprinkle with bread crumbs and additional cheese if desired.
- Bake at 375°F (190°C) for 20-25 minutes until golden and bubbly.
Notes
- Use freshly grated cheese for best melting and flavor.
- Feel free to add cooked bacon or herbs for extra flavor.
