Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons cream of tartar
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 3 tablespoons ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar (for rolling)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, cream of tartar, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon.
  5. Gradually add dry ingredients to wet ingredients, mixing until combined.
  6. In a small bowl, mix 1/4 cup sugar with 1 tablespoon cinnamon for rolling.
  7. Shape dough into 1 1/2-inch balls, roll in cinnamon sugar mixture, and place on prepared baking sheets.
  8. Bake for 10-12 minutes until edges are lightly golden.
  9. Remove from oven and let cool on wire racks.
